Let's face it: We could all imagine what to do with a little extra cash. But when Allen Smith received his monthly Veterans Affairs dependency check, it contained an unimaginable amount. Instead of the usual $650, it was made out for a half-billion dollars. Billion.

The 22-year-old receives a dependency check from the Department of the Treasury to help with college expenses, because his father served in the U.S. Air Force. It's just usually not that much.

Still, that's a lot of textbooks.

Smith's mother, Patricia Attwood Smith, told WTVM, "He immediately, immediately went to the VA officer at Fort Benning ... (and) turned in the check." She added she is proud of her son and knows his father is smiling down on him.

So where does the $690,000,000 actually belong? That remains a mystery.

Smith was told the check could have been a misprint or the office could have been hacked. The VA inspector general assured Attwood Smith that the check will get back to where it belongs.

Step 1: Open Swiss Bank account
Step 2: Deposit Check in that account
Step 3: Leave country on a private airplane.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I like to think I'm good hearted and have an honest nature, but 500 million bucks? It'd be hard. Especially if I could cash it. And leave. I'd like to say I have the moral fortitude to do the right thing but...that's a fuck lot of cash

The swiss have been compromised. I would open a bank account, deposit it, move money offshore fast (in hopes they haven't caught their error), blast out to other countries in varied amounts, rinse wash repeat, GTFO of here and figure out where to hide.

          500,000,000 ≠ 690,000,000

            1) Is that a shit load of cash? Yes
            2) Would I like said cash? Yes
            3) Would whoever wrote the check be looking for your ass if cashed? Yes
            4) Will they probably find you? Yes
            5) Would it be worth spending time in prison for something you realistically couldn't get away with? No

Madagascar. If you have to ask, you've never contemplated murder.

I seriously doubt that amount of cash would ever make it to a bank account before the mistake was caught, and it's not like they are going to load up your Uhaul with a few pallets of $100 bills after handing that check to a teller.

I should clarify - I wouldn't cash it, I'd attempt to deposit it and claim error if caught.
