Three times in life this has happened to me:

Once, I went over to I a board members house (JR347?) to go for a ride in his 460'ed Burgundy Sn. Speedo showed 160 on some highway close to Joe Pool, and after slowing from this blast the right rear wheel falls off. Luckily the car stayed on the wheel and didn't screw up the lug studs.

The second was me was following my cousin in his 78 Firebird. I'm about a hundred yards behind when I see something shoot out in a perfectly flat line, two feet off the ground, for about 35' and then come almost all the way back to the car without touching the ground. On the second one I knew what it was and nailed the gas to catch him, but too late. The drivers front comes off and bounces over the top of an oncoming car while his car is sparking the hell out of Murphy road. Screwed up studs and broke the rotor iirc, which resulted in a trip to the wrecking yard... Ahhh, back in the day...

The third was my 74 Camaro when I forgot to recheck the wheels. Never happened again...
