My point was that woman aren't going to shop at HD because its dirty, poorly lit, etc. & would rather go to Lowes because its clean and nicely lit.

That's kinda the point of them. Fewer employees to pay = more cost savings. Now how much of that cost savings is actually passed on to the customer, they won't say. Now if they had it where "Save 10% on your purchase using our automated system" would at least give people the choice. The again you'd have some clown trying to hoist a hot water heater on the scanner trying to save a few bucks.

It's a public company so the savings will not go toward the customer but to the quarterly statement and thus equating to larger bonuses for the executives. ...I personally like the automated self check out, less of the unnecessary " how are you"s.

I guess I'm just weird, because I prefer self checkout, no matter what store I'm at. I also hate when I am walking around a store and am constantly asked if I need help.

I love that I can walk in to my local Home Depot, get everything I need, check out, and leave without ever having to talk to anybody.
