  • Home Depot security cams!

Went to the local Home Depot and in the tool section they have these monitors that start beeping with a flashing light notifying you your being watched. Every time you move another cam beeps I think its some of the most annoying shit ever. They must have been getting robbed pretty good to have to go to that kind of setup

Ya, it's really annoying. They need to shut the beeping off.

Doesn't surprise me. No one actually works at home depot so stealing would be easy. They completely automated checkout so it only follows they would do the same for theft prevention.

My last trip to HD involved me with a cart load of stuff and a dim witted idividual that over saw the self check outs. I explained to this ASSociate that I do not use self check out and was told that it was the only way. I walked away and went to the Lowes to purchase my needs and haven't been back since. I sent them a nasty email and they sent me a 25$ code so I gave it to a friend of mine.

        HD blows.

I went to HD yesterday and bought a few things for the yard, had many people walking around helping customers and both registers in the outdoor section running. Didn't go far enough into the building to see if registers had people working, but I assume they did.

It's like the opposite here, Lowes blows, HD rocks!

Home Depot in Alvin is awesome. I have always hated Lowes, but they have nicer interior stuff

It's always been hit or miss for me. When I need help I'll walk 20 rows without finding anyone. When I know exactly what I'm going in for and where it is I have 30 people ask me if I need help. Never been able to figure it out.

Home Depot is a store geared towards men, Lowes is geared towards women

he probably feels like I do... If I'm doing the job of a cashier, I should be compensated for it

Even more so, them cutting cashiers are taking the jobs from people who need them most.

I guess. Not really interested in serving myself , I need some service to go with my shopping experience.
I would not use them anywhere, I want a smiling cashier to take my money and thank me for my business.

That's kinda the point of them. Fewer employees to pay = more cost savings. Now how much of that cost savings is actually passed on to the customer, they won't say. Now if they had it where "Save 10% on your purchase using our automated system" would at least give people the choice. The again you'd have some clown trying to hoist a hot water heater on the scanner trying to save a few bucks.

I never buy a shitload of stuff anyways but the self checkout is easy breezy. I know when they first came out the only ones that worked worth a damn were the ones at Wal-Mart. Now it seems they have gotten much better and if I have the option to use one of them I will use it over a cashier.

My only beef with the self check outs is I wish people would understand when using them you form a queue, not a line behind every damn kiosk...
