Serious as a heart attack. When I was a kid, I'd go hunt squirrels in some capacity every day. You couldn't pay me to eat a city squirrel (ramprant with disease), but my hunting was obviously out in the sticks.

As cliche as it is, it most closely represents dark meat chicken. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor.

Everybody gets the impression that only backwoods hillbillies hunt and eat squirrel, and that's far from the truth. Yes, they do, but squirrel used to be highly sought after. The meat is very good. Of course, you need a good day hunting, because one squirrel isn't much meat.

That's what I can't figure out. Just knowing what singed hair smells like, I don't even want to imagine the funky ass taste.

Badass I'll have to try it!

And I'm starting to wonder of maybe this guy was just "torch"uring the squirrel and lied about the plans to eat it because of both the fire and animal cruelty charges. Or he was on bath salts and K2...

Meh, not really. Rabbit doesn't have as much color, and isn't as tender, or juicy in my experience.

@Ruffdaddy - If it's something you're going to hunt yourself - young squirrels are good fried, like chicken. Older squirrels, the meat is more tough, but you can make some badass dumplings with them.

You're even a snob when it comes to eating rodents! LOL

Damn, now I want some squirrel. It's been a while.

I might have to dust off the old .22 and give one of my boys some lessons on the .410.

I remember the last time I had squirrel and I had to be careful cuz I was spitting out the tiny buckshot.

That's why I like to use a .22 or .17 rifle and pop them in the head.

My first time to eat squirrel was after using a .410. We would spoon the pellets out of the crock pot as it simmered in the cream of mushroom soup. We still had to chew slowly just in case.
