Police do NOT protect or serve. They are under no obligation to do so either. “In the landmark decision of DeShaney v. Winnebago County Department of Social Services,” Stevens writes, “The US Supreme Court declared that the constitution does not impose a duty on the state and local governments to protect citizens from critical harm.”

They are revenue generators, and something shiny to look at. With current laws, they have too much power, not enough regulation and are almost impossible to prosecute. And when you do try, they claim qualified immunity or get a few days off for gunning down innocents in their own home.

I'm very much against this. And anyone who do back cops because...they're cops, read up. They dont' have to protect you and many won't. They'd rather sit in their cars and play on their phones than answer a call from someone barricaded in a room with someone cutting through their door with an axe.

By "bitching that they don't protect and serve" you mean that he simply stated that Police are supposed to do exactly that, and at one point in time, their mission statement was plastered across almost every cruiser in the country.

Now, you'll rarely see that, and they apparently aren't required to, as illustrated by case after case where cops destroy lives and are given a free pass because they have a badge.

Yes, I bitch they don't do the job they claim to. That they put on the side of their vehicles and everyone has been trained to believe they do. The whole perception of them as protectors is built on a lie.

This asshole called for backup and then went outside with his weapon drawn and opened fire on an unarmed citizen. Report said that the cop was 'chased 50 feet.' 50 feet? That's what? A few strides? He wasn't chased, he stepped backwards a few times and then opened fire. Fuck that. If he was so in fear, he should have stayed his ass inside until backup arrived.

I didn't see "eating people." I saw "he attempted to bite a lady." That's not eating someone. Again, his first response shoudlnt' have been that pistol. If he had used ANYTHING else first, an arm bar, a tackle, throwing a coffee cup, then there'd be no issue on my part.

My problem is that pistol became his first and only resort.
