So I've never been and I'm wanting to f#*@ out of here for a week... Any recommendations on the which island to go to or hotels? Must see places?

Go to the Big Island if you want to get away from city life. We rented a Jeep and drove over old lava to get to several public beaches where we were the only ones within a mile each direction. They have black sand beaches (lava), white sand beaches (coral) and black & white sand beaches. They have helicopter tours over the lava that's still flowing out of the volcanoes into the ocean.

In Oahu, you'll see freeways, traffic, malls, beaches with lifeguards, porta potties and snack bars, etc. Pearl Harbor is a must see.

I thought Kauai was the prettiest of most islands. We did a heli tour there and it was amazing! You fly by the waterfall that was in Jurassic Park.
If you go to Maui, I highly recommend the Old lahaina Luau, they cook the pig in the ground, great entertainment, awesome food, and open bar!
As stated above pearl harbor is a must aswell, its crazy you can still see oil bubbling up.
I want to go back so bad!

I have to agree with Kauai It is what you think an island would be like.

Oahu is a city just like anywhere else here it just happens to have great weather and an ocean

            On Kauai
The big waterfall in the canyon

We hiked to the top of the waterfall and this is feeding the big waterfall

This is the top of the big waterfall

This is my dumb ass hanging ofer the edge holding on to a tree looking down it

            On Oahu at Pearl Harbor

On Oahu I rented a sport bike a couple times and a cruiser once ( I was on the islands for 3 months at a time, 3 years in a row)

On Oahu. I took these pics at Germaine's luau

You are braver than I am man. No way would I scuba dive in those waters, I know full well what lurks out there. I don't care how pretty it is, the potential for being a scoobie snack to a tiger shark is just too high for me.

                Maui

                Stay in the Kaanapali area
                Snorkel/scuba Molokini (I recommend these guys http://www.sailtrilogy.com/)
                Road to Hana
                Mama's Fish House
                Wander around Lahaina
You can also stop at the Walmart by the airport and buy a snorkel and fins. There's plenty of places you can snorkel right off the shore.

Don't go to any night clubs that are owned by gangsters.

                    I've been there twice.

The Big Island is boring as fuck.
                    Kauai is fucking amazing.

                    This is all.

Got married on the south shore of Kauai last Oct... It was pretty damn awesome. Stayed there about 9 days, and then went to Tokyo (I mean Waikiki) on Oahu for 3 days... Oahu was cool, if yoi go, the North Shore is shit imo, go to the eastern shore directly across the island from Honolulu, we found the sickest beach, lots of windsurfers. Boogie boarded for about 2 hours till we couldn't swin anymore and headed back to Waikiki. The strip of Waikiki has all the baller shops you can think of, its like a long ass Rodeo Drive. Lots of gd money on that block. If you head east just one block, it's like being in DT SF, there are fliers for hookers, dance clubs etc. We even saw some hooks, it was quite eye opening. Lmao. Esp so close to the "nice" area literally 200 feet away.

Kauai was more laid back (almost too much for me), roosters are fucken everywhere, woke my ass up everyday at my condo.. The Grand Canyon of the Pacific is frickin sweet to see, and there are waterfalls everywhere. The best one imo was the one from Fantasy Island. We got there as it rained and it was almost 3 waterfalls wide. If I went to Kauai again, stay in Kapa (ka-paa-ahhh) Beach on the east shore... Its the best beach city on the island imo.. And go to Bubba's Burgers! The one in Hanalai Bay is famous for celeb's, its a tiny shit hole but good eats. Popiou is sick too, at least go to the Grand Hyatt for dinner if you can't afford to stay a night (nicest hotel on any of the islands).

Haven't been to Maui or Big Island since I was 14 or so, but plan to go to both prob next year.

If you want the prettiest island with the best outdoor stuff go to Kauai. Snorkel the Napoli coast and take the mud buggy tour.

If you like history Oahu is where it is at.

Thanks for the info... the inter island flights are pretty reasonable so I may split time and try to see Pearl Harbor
