  • Another DFW Doctors thread..

Okay, before I say anything I will state that I have a call in to my doctor and just waiting for a call back from his nurse.

In the mean time, who has had appendicitis? I have had some dull pain in my lower right abdomen for about a week or so and am a little concerned it might be that. I don't feel that I have any other symptoms, no nausea, vomiting, don't have the shits, etc.

If you have had appendicitis can you explain how you felt?

In the wise words of my old H.S. coach,"Rub some dirt on it and take a lap!"

J/K. I had a hernia that felt that way for years...until it blew up (ruptured) requiring emergency surgery. I thought appendicitis was a sharper-type pain that would double you over after a time.

*edit* See the "where do you want to go to die" thread. LOL!

Not appendicitis...98% of people with appendicitis more than 36hrs will perforate and cause peritonitis...and you surely dont have that as you would feel like you are knocking on deaths door. If you jump up and down does it exacerbate the pain? Does pushing on the opposite side of your belly cause pain on the right? How is your appetite? Fever? Nausea? Vomiting? I'm not saying that you wont go on to develop appendicitis but I highly doubt you have it right now.

stereotypically you would see frequency in urination and painful urination. I doubt its a UTI

Chili... Its much safer to just get it checked out. Appendicitis will usually cause pain when you push on your stomach in the area. If you have rebound tenderness I would definitely get checked out. With appendicitis the pain usually gets pretty bad. If all of a sudden there is very distinct pain relief, appendix could have burst. With appendicitis, the pain usually starts and only lasts a day or two, not a week. To properly diagnose appnedicitis, you will need and abdominal and pelvic CT with IV contrast.

Doesnt sound like it to me, but Im not a Dr.

There are many things that can mimic appendicitis...
-Yersinia enterocolitis is the one that mimics it the most
                      -kidney stone
                      -colitis
                      -UTI
                      -inguinal hernia
                      -testicular torsion
                      -epididymitis
                      -musculoskeletal issues
                      -cholecystitis/biliary colic
                      -diverticulitis
                      -rectus sheath hematoma
                      -etc...

Probably not an appendicitis(sp) when my GF had it she couldn't walk and I though I was going to have to dump her body somewhere.
