Pretty stupid You really want to recreate something that is infamous for sending over 1500 people to a terrible death and then have a celebratory atmosphere about it?
When you put it like that is it any different than James Cameron pimping it out for a movie?
People are still fascinated by the Titanic. They will want to go for a trip on this thing, once.
I'm not one of them.
It makes no sense to me. Its small compared to modern cruise ships. The design doesn't allow most of the passengers to be outside, on a deck, enjoying the ocean voyage. Being cooped up in a boat reknown for killing her passengers is not my idea of fun.
The whole thing sounds macabre, if not downright disrespectful. I wouldn't tempt fate with a ride on it. Karma can be a real bitch. But then again I think all cruises seem lame so maybe I'm just not their target customer.
When the government pays, the government controls.
Not sure that's a project worth sinking money into.

I became interested in the Titanic in the mid 80's, right before it was discovered, when my mom stumbled on a late showing of A Night To Remember. I read everything I could get my hands on about it, even had a paper I wrote about it for a history class go to a state competition in 8th grade.
I can't really put a finger on why this just sort of disgusts me, but it really does. I guess maybe it is the catering to the exact type of opulence and expenditure of money that was the undoing of the original ship, which after sinking brought an end to the so called "Gilded Age." The entire thing just seems to be an affront to the disaster, and ironically looks to be following in its exact footsteps. I wouldn't set foot on it, and I agree about the bad Karma. Something just isn't right about it.
