I remember a coworker in Tulsa that took his cop friend's advice- get a toll tag, but never have it in the vehicle. When u go thru, part of the system there will check the tag against toll tag owners, and bill you. If they don't find your toll tag acct, you get a bill, which you can pay with your toll tag acct with minimal effort. Apparent most charges fall thru these cracks. Something like 75%.

I rented a car in Miami and drove down to Key West. I went through the "Sun Pass" lanes at each of the little stations. Fast Forward 8 months I have a $700 charge on my credit card from the car rental. I call to inform them that I had not rented a car in the last couple of months to which they replied that I had acrued that in tolls and fines.

Paying every toll it would have been around $25...... lesson learned.

If you have 4 or more cars on your acct it will automatically charge u $80 at a time. $40 for up to 3 cars. They dont send u a bill unless you dont have an existing acct with them. They do tack on $25 fees per violation but waive them if you get an acct. NTTA that is.

How quick do they send a bill for running through without a tag?

Ran through without thinking a few weeks ago and have been checking the mail, so far - nada.

I took GB from 35E to MacArthur in Irving off and on from 12/2009 to 6/2010, to the tune of about $120 in tolls. I finally got the bill earlier this year.

I never saw a bill until they sent the late notice with all of the ridiculous surcharges, and we were watching for it.

I just got a first late notice for $12 ($4 in tolls + $8 in administrative fees). If I don't pay that, it goes to $38. I never got the original bill, either, and these tolls are from only a few months ago.

Oh and by the way, the old dealer tags w/dates that were filled in were not traceable. The new ones have an id/numbers and letters on them that are identifiable to the new registered owner while replacement tags arrive at the dealership should you decide to purchase.

Im starting to drive from irving 183 to 30 arlington via pgbw now. Ive been paying the zipcash invoice but im starting to frequent the tollway more often now.
