lol, don't feel bad man. You can't pick your parents. At the very least you recognize their problems and have been able to steer clear of the same mistakes by learning from theirs. There is something to be said for that.

Yeah, I use my father to test ideas. Ask him what he thinks and then do the opposite. It tends to work pretty well.

Mine too. He knew how to deal with life and gave me golden advice. My mother is nothing more than a cancer. Always has been and I fully understand why my dad had enough after 15 years of being married to that life sucking parasite.

my parents have bank. i know they have some money invested, but they have 3 talented children who could turn that money into something. it's always upset me that there is no "family business". It seem like they are just always buying new cars, then complaining about a $600 light bill. who needs 6000 sq. ft. for 2 senior citizens?

He actually started at Amarillo, then got promoted and transferred to a Supervisor position here in Arlington in 85. I've been here ever since and they are living it up down in Corpus. He retired in 2000.

Bell Helicopter is the reason I am in the DFW area too. I remember going to the plant off of 20 with my dad. He was a contract engineer on the V-22, I remember seeing the Nacelle on the test stand and being there for its first flight. I also can recall my older brother getting calls all the time from Bell thinking he was my dad because they shared the same name when they were having all those issues with them crashing.

Yeah, I watched it fly at that plant a few times. Then he moved over to Plant 5 off 360 for several years before he retired. One of the test pilots lived about 6 houses down from us.

Like Bcoop, my dad and I didn't get along at all when I lived with him. Since I moved out and had kids of my own I realized he wasn't as stupid as I thought.

Dad was my best man at my wedding and I at his 40th for renewing his vows with my mother this year. They are my best friends and most trusted advisors.

My wife's parents... well shit, that's a different story.

Both my parents are amazing people and have a heart of gold. I know that they would give their lives up for their kids as I would do the same for them. My dad made a lot of personal mistakes when he was younger that cost him 2 marriages. But he has never wavered in being a fantastic dad. It is his mistakes that have made me into a good man to the women in my life. My mother is a saint to me. She can do no wrong. She gives me advice when I need it. She is at my side when times are rough. And she is pretty awesome to hang out with also. I got my partying tendencies from her. Lol! All in all I am blessed to have the parents that I have. As well as grandparents (moms parents). My upbringing was always solid.

I have 6 kids.. Do I care if they think I'm a jackass?? Am I disappointed?, kinda, but in the end I really don't give a flying fuck. Brought them into this world (donated the sperm anyhow) fed/clothed them, helped pay for their hobbies and extra activities at school. Did my best to show them what right and wrong.Showed as much love and affection that I could. Went without so they could have.. I did everything possible that a parent should do for their kids..

Well my rents (mom and stepdad) are pretty fucking rediculous. Yeah, they live a nice fancy ass life, and it's funny how good everything looks from the outside; a couple 1/4 million dollar plces, fast cars, big trucks, boats etc., but how miserable they live.

One night about a month ago, they came home after being at Wilhoites all night. They got in a fight about how my stepdad has been fooling around with this woman (she is one of his subordinates at work and he goes over to her airplane hanger after work to work on her Torino scj, and wont come home till 11 12 at night, and wont tell anyone where he is going).


Anyways, they get home and start fighting; Im holding mom back, she giving him shit. Then the rings fling. She tries to leave the house drunk. I bring her into a room to tlk to her, then stepdad busts in and the door hits her. My brother see's this and socks em right in the face and he flies into my window busting it. They fit and then my brother chockes him out. After everything calms, we go to bed.




The next morning, I wake up and neither of them remember it, stepdad has an ice pack on his neck and mom can't find her ring. This shit happens at least twice a month. God, I swear, they will NEVER grow the fuck up... Love for my mom is neverending, though.
