State Fair

The wife and I are planning to go to First Monday in Canton this weekend. We'll probably go on the weekend of the 6th. She's been wanting to take a train ride on the A train from Denton. It's a long ass ride but i'm sure Carpenter will enjoy it.

Just a little heads up on that....My dad thought it would be a good idea to try that last year. We went to the A train station in Denton but had just missed the train so they had us take a bus to the train station over off 35 by Lake Lewisville, but the bus had to make about 10 stops in Denton before it got to the station. All in all it took us an extra half hour to get to the fair than it took my bro and his wife and they decided they'd just drive there.

On the way back wasn't as bad because we were able to catch the last train from the Lewisville station to the Denton station, but MAKE SURE if you've got kids to make them go to the bathroom before you get on the train. There are NO bathrooms on the trains or at any of the stops. My little girl had to hold it for the whole ride and that made for the worst trip ever.

Also, there were a lot of sketchy looking people riding that thing. No one ever came and checked tickets so basically anyone could've just hopped on and rode without paying, and there wasn't any type of police or security anywhere to be found that I saw either.

Choice....I've been to fairs back home and I spent $100 w/out even knowing, and it is no where near the size of this one. I can only imagine how much I would spend. No kids stay with me, so that is main reason.

Just got back. Pretty nice day, crowds were pretty low. Deep Ellum brewing has some stuff for sale over in the texas wine corner, so you can support local brewers, I saw Franconia on tap somewhere as well.
