How do you think attorney's make their money and we all know they are 100% honest!
Really? If I buy something for 100$ and return it for 200$, that's not stealing? It's being a fucking thief.

dont feel bad at all.. Im still paying money for the thing. I paid $50 with a gift card I bought, Mastercard paid $50 with points I earned, etc... why would I feel bad? HD made money and charged $33 for shipping.

Youre justifying your actions. If you purchase something and then return it for more than you purchased it, you're being a thief. Is it really that hard to comprehend?

Everyone is so worried about getting something for nothing.

I paid for it...Im not sure on your thought process. I paid for the nailer, and apparently an airhose that comes with it. Home Depot received $113 or so. So when I take the airhose back (that was paid for WITH the nailer) I receive money (store credit) back, lowering the purchase price to $$83. So, still not following you. The only reason Im sitting really well on the price is because I used $50 in mastercard points, bought a $50 giftcard for $25 from Mastercard. Both legal. Mastercard paid the difference.

You paid for the nailer, they GAVE you a FREE air hose. What part of returning something that was FREE**** (without cost to you) for money, do you not consider wrong?
So if those air hoses were given to the retailer as part of a promo, and they had no "cost", then they gave them to you, would it then be stealing? You were given the air hose free because of your purchase. Free is not good enough however.

And re-read your post about the pans.

oh.... lol. Sorry Adam. Thats not stealing either. I got 1/2 off from Mastercard with that as well. I actually paid full price and am receiving a 50% credit from Mastercard on my statement. So essentially I paid $200 out of my pocket and will receive store credit for $200. Mastercard is going to credit me $100 due to their sales promotion they have going on. So in theory I got the pans half off but I will get 100% on the refund. In the end, Im still tied to spend the $200 with Sears to make my $100 credit

              Makes more sense?
And the airhose was probably part of the nailer kit. There aint nothing free in life. Home Depot didnt call me and say they are going to ship me an airhose out of kindness for free.. I paid for a Dewalt product and the hose came with it.

                  Let's break this down-
                  80$ nailer
                  33$ shipping
                  0$ air hose (30$ value)

                  Does that look right?

So buy returning the 30$ value air hose for 30$, you get the thing for 83$? Am I seeing this correctly?

                    More like this:
$83 for nailer and air hose
                    $33 shipping

But yep...going to return the air hose.

So if you bought one item and got another equal item free, would it be stealing for you to return the item that you received for free for full value?

the store wouldnt do it... In my case, HD will.

Places like CVS will refund you 100% of the purchase price even if you used a coupon. I have seen people buy a $30 electric razor, use $20 in coupons on it, and return it for $30. I dont do that stuff.

Like I said...as far as Im concerned, I paid for the air hose as part of the nailer. For the original price, it should come with an airhose, they charge $300 for the thing. Besides, these nailers are old back stock that had a recall on them...they didnt tell me that. Its a 2008 nailer. Is that fair?

I don't think the term you're looking for, necessarilly, is "stealing". I think that's too harsh of a term for this situation. The term I would use in this case would be "taking advantage" of the situation. It's not exactly stealing when the company goes along with it. You're trying to compare this situation with something like walking into the store, putting something in your pocket, and walking out without paying for it. THAT's "stealing". Taking advantage of this particular situation...not so much.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt, though, and say that it is sort of a gray-area....

How is it a gray area? You purchase one item for 20$ on a BOGO Free promotion, you now have 40$ of their product for 20$.

You take one of the items back for 20$. You now have 20$ of their product for 0$. You have just stolen that item.

The principle is theft. Is them giving their own stuff away okay? Hell yes. Is someone working the system to get stuff for free okay? Not one fucking bit.

I guess we are on different pages. Im not buying 2 things and returning one to get the other free. They are still making money. How do you know the air hose isnt part of the nail gun package?

It doesn't matter if it is or not. It's still dishonest to return part of a "package deal" for a non "package deal" price.
