You're misunderstanding. Coupons are one way that a store or manufacturer reduces the price on something to increase sales. That's not theft.

Returning something that you did not pay for? Theft.

Know what? I think I'm going to go return the insoles out of some shoes I just bought.

Because DeWalt doesn't make an air hose, you dumbass. Adam's right, it's blatant theft. You're justifying your actions here. It's no different than someone busting your window out and stealing your radio. That's ok. Karma's a bitch. It will catch up to you, eventually.

Sorry your holiness but what he did is not even close to the same level as somone burglarizing a vehicle. What about people using coupons at kroger, having them doubled or trippled and getting and item for free or heavily discounted. Is that stealing also??

If you don't understand the difference between a coupon, and what he is doing, nothing I can say is going to get through your ignorant head.

But, I'll try since you two don't seem to comprehend. He buys a nailer, that comes with a FREE HOSE. He returns the hose, and gets a $30 credit. That's theft. The hose was free. He returned it to get money, that he didn't pay for it.

                You're using a coupon defense?

Ok smart guy, are coupons given with the intent on you making a purchase at the business with this discount being factored into the point of sale?

Purchasing an item, then returning the complimentary "gifted" item and receiving ANYTHING in return is theft, whether it be store credit or cash back.

How about you sell me four wheels for $100 and throw in a set of tires for free with a full refund policy. Then I come back to you and say I don't want the tires, but they're worth $100 and you are obligated to give me $100 in exchange.

You're telling me that wouldn't be considered stealing or theft?

By that same token, you shouldn't ever have anything to say, should you?

I dont give a fuck what you guys think. Its still not theft in my mind. I PAID FOR THE ITEM AS PART OF MY NAIL GUN. As soon as the invoice slip says "FREE" then you may have a point

Yeah, bcoop and threefingerpete would have an epic meltdown on SD seeing how some people get deals on stuff.

And boohoo about him returning the air hose. Worst case scenario, he returns it without a receipt and he gets a giftcard which must be spent in that store. They're not losing any money so I don't see why the panties are getting wadded up with you two.

The store just resales what you take back. If they don't want to give you credit then they don't.

Saying this is like using a coupon, just plain stupid. Nobody is saying anything is wrong with using a coupon. The returning of the free item, for your own monetary gain is NOTHING like using a coupon.

This is just like buying something for half off, and returning to get credit for the full price. It's dishonest, and it's theft. For instance - HD runs a sale once a year or so, for DeWalt kits. Most of these kits are half off. Last time around, I bought one. It included a circular saw, jig saw, drill, and flashlight. I think it cost me $200. We all know, drills run close to that alone. So let's say I bought the kit, then return the skill saw, circular saw, and flashlight for full price credit on each item.

Buying a kit like that, and selling off what you want on CL or Ebay is one thing. But buying a kit, then returning what you don't want for full price credit to the same store you bought it from in the first place, is taking money out of their pocket and putting it in to yours. That's theft. Plain and simple.
