Stupid thing spent more time broken down than running and don't even get me started on the interior.

you know you can't claim you were easy on that thing, and I'm sure the nitrous kit and the lubbock sand storms didn't help it LOL

it did make good yard art, though my dad didn't seem to agree LMFAO

      Another vote for Ford Ranger

Super cheap to maintain, I mean super fucking cheap. It would be easy to find a nice one with your budget.

        True.

And no, Your dad was not amused at all at two days of me attacking the shackle mounts with an Air-Hammer.

I hated everything about that truck from about a month after I got it until the day I sold it.

Vents fell off without being touched.
Headliner started falling down when the truck was 4ish years old.
Guages went dead for about a week twice.
          And everything that could rattled.
Passenger seat broke loose on the sliders when I stopped fast on the highway.
TL;DR. I was just calling your bluff, dude.

Why not? My Dakota hasn't given me a single problem over the years.

What year was it? I am guessing the 2000+ 4.7L 4x4 with the 4 speed auto.

another vote for the Ranger They are tough dependable trucks. My dad had a 93 ranger he bought it new and sold it 10 years later for $2500 and still ran like a champ with 245K on clock. only thing he had to do to it was 1 brake job, 1 starter, 5 oil changes, and 1 tune up.

                    Just my personal bad experience.

All of the 1/2 ton chevy's have been great.

                    Also just personal experience.

I don't like that year at all. Nearly every one I have seen is total crap. I bought my Dakota with every intention of reselling it, but I found I liked it better than the other trucks I had, so I kept it. I never had a problem with it.

Sucks when you get a bad experience. I haven't had any issues with 1/2 chebbys either.

5 Oil changes over 245K miles? That's solid for sure.

i am not worried about power, really just something reliable with good mpg and ac.
Didn't read all of the replies, but for that price range you will be lucky to get a decent truck that's the same age as your old car.

I kept telling him you have got to change it more often but he would just tell me to fuck off.

Mine is only 15 years old, and it's $1300 cheaper than his lowest quote.
