That's highly unfortunate. I would like to think you'd eventually reach a professional level (qualifications/certifications/etc.) where people would quit pulling stuff like that, but I suppose people will be people will be people. Keep your head up and be patient.

That does suck, but be thankful you still have a job. I'd be scared shitless if I had to depend on a employer. Self enployment is stressful enough. Best of luck to you.

Not that long, but certainly too long.

Serious question, as I plan to move out of state and also plan to have children not long after. With airports in every major city, I don't see why it has to be that way.
It has to do with location of family. The three of us have spent thousands of dollars traveling as a family the last few months. My wife is not from D/FW - by the time my son was 7 months old he'd flown across the country on 3 separate round trips (2 east coast and 1 to Dallas). If you've ever flown from San Francisco to the east coast you know how bad it is ... imagine that trip with a baby. Travel screwed things up for Adam each time we've flown too, as an aside. Sleep schedule, ear aches, etc...you can't just throw a newborn onto a plane at will and expect there to be no issues (not mine at least). Not necessarily from a perspective of the flight itself, but screwing up his sleep patterns, wakeful periods, etc.

My mother and one of my sisters are coming here Thanksgiving to stay the week. I should clarify the number of days for my mother - she's seen him 7 days. She flew out here for 4 days a couple weeks after he was born and we stayed there 3 days/nights on a 5 day Dallas trip. At the end of the day the biggest factor is that we have family for my son to see all over the country ... we can't just fly to one location and knock out the family thing, ie we can't go back to the same location every time for a family visit.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Sorry to hear, but if you want it bad enough, you'll find something else.

Ditto. Not sure specifically what you're looking for job-wise, but there has to be some good i-banking, hedge funds, PE firms, etc. in Dallas? You should be able to parlay your SF work experience into a good job based back in Dallas?!!?

Part of the problem is that this year hasn't been kind to the hedge funds, a lot of them can't beat the S&P.

I love my family and friends, but to hell with DFW. Once I leave I'm not coming back.
