I have never had one on any vehicle in 15 years. I think I may have gotten one ticket for it, and it was used as an excuse to pull me over several times, but I'll never put one on. My mother and father have never had them on their cars (f150, TBSS, Vette) and have never been stopped or ticketed.

Now when I drive on certain nights I know the piggys will be out in force looking for anything to boost revenue, I might dig it out and zip tie it on.

It's not enforced, unless you already fit a profile they like to stop.

I've been tagged 4 times in the last 2 years for not having it on. But I do have it chilling in the back seat. I just say, "I just took my car to get washed and they moved it to clean the windows. My bad." And I get off with a warning. Come to think about it... They've all been FTW cops too

My personal opinion is that it's mainly used as a PC way to pull you over.

I've been pulled over three times now for it and never ticketed.

Per the new law the front windshield is no longer good enough- it has to be on the front most part of the vehicle.

I don't like it and don't run one but have been pulled over and warned a few times- never ticketed. Like it was said before just gives the popo a reason to pull you over.

I don't like how it doesn't apply to out of state residents only Texas- its bulsh

I haven't run a front plate on my Mustang for 10 years. Been pulled a few times here and there. No one has ever said a word or took issue with it.

It's really only the DPS troopers that are anal about the front plate.

I'm moving back to Texas in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering do you guys have a front plate on your weekend ride? Do the LEOs really enjoy writing no front license plate tickets?

                  Thanks guys.
                  I got the ticket- $200

been pulled over once for it....warning on my fun car.

dailys I run plates for lack of hassle.

I've heard they want the plates on the front so the laser can get a good flat surface to hit. ?????

I had intended to get one. My salesman was off the day my car came in and the PDI guy drilled it before he was told not to do it. No real big deal to me though.

The dealership probably has some "no-drill" brackets available as well. Putting it in the windshield makes your car look ten times worse than having it on the bumper.

I've had three tickets in the last 15 years for not having a front license plate. Chances are you won't get one, but you are just giving the police a reason to pull you over.

If you don't have a bracket attached and you don't have pre-existing holes in your bumper for it, you might get lucky with the "I thought the law was that if the car had provisions for it, it must be there" excuse. It worked for me last time.

Per the law, it has never been legal to just throw it on the dash.
