well i just tested it with another battery and the drill is burnt up anyway so looks like im gonna have to buy one. what do you guys think of this set?

That is a good set for home use, I used them commercially for a few years and didn't have any problems.

I just scrapped a blue Makita impact that I've used for 7yrs. Makita FTMFW for cordless IMO
