Some of my Ryobi 18v stuff is going on at least 8+ years no issues. Not sure how they would work for commercial use but for home use they are great.

18v lithium ion Makita's here. Drill and impact and love the shit out of them. I have the green(Turquoise?)/black ones and in-law has the white/black. Not sure what is difference other than color. Mine are about 4 years old.

Yeah, a lot of people I know have good luck with Ryobi - but I've had nothing but failures from cordless tools to chainsaws.

Also, my list was not conclusive just the 2 best bangs for the buck that I've found.

Use dewalt and makita for work, ryobi is fine for handyman or medium use.. I dig their lithium series

Bought a couple of Bosch 18v Lithium drill sets a while back when Lowes was clearancing those out. Got them for $45 a set. Drill came with 2 batteries and Bosch was running a promo at the time to get 2 more batteries by MIR.

I know this doesn't help you but had to solid barg.

+1 for Makita. The white/black use the 1.5amp batteries and the green/black use 3.0amp. I've heard you can use the 3.0amp batteries in the white/black set but not the other way around. The new Milwaukee stuff is supposed to be pretty good, alot of guys in my company use them. I like that the batteries have an indicator that you can see when they are getting low.

Fuck cheap ass drills man, that is one thing you need to work 100%.

I went out and bought one of the cheaper white/black Makita's 18V 1.5amp. It worked okay for a week, and then I bent the main shaft drilling (which is pathetic) and nearly caught it on fire (drilling a metal post with a 1/2" bit). So I returned it and bought their top of the line 18V 3.0amp green drill and impact. That thing is a beast. The set runs about $300.

I used Makita's for years at work, at home I have a Dewalt set and a lithium Hitachi drill. The Hitachi lithium tools are a great bang for the buck, Lifetime tool warranty and they work well for a homeowner.
