The wife called to report an offense, and the suspece was not on scene.
He either came back, or never really left the area. He entered the apartment and shot the officer and ex, then himself.
It is SOP to have only one officer respond to a call that is not in progress, and the suspect(s) have left.

Not sure that I agree with sending a female officer, let alone a rookie, to a DD scene. Matt, how does it work when the dispatch goes out? Does a sgt tell which officer to take the call? Or does the dispatcher give it to who is closest to the scene?

I just don't understand people. I mean I know that no one can piss you off as much as a SO or an ex-SO but how can someone take the life of another person that is not threatening theirs? Lord knows I have gotten pissed off enough I felt like beating the shit out of my ex's but to act on it never crossed my mind.
Some people are just crazy and it's very sad that people get involved with them not having a clue what they are getting into.
RIP officer.

A rookie officer who has been released to solo status is no different than a veteran officer. They don't get to pick and choose calls. Same with female vs. male. In this day and age, women want to be treated as equals, so they get sent on the shit calls just like the men.
