A meet-and-greet among auto enthusiasts turned into a crash and fatal stabbing overnight, police said.
Officers with the Houston Police Department said a group of people were showing off their cars in a parking lot off Airline Drive around midnight Sunday when several tires were slashed and a fight ensued.
Witnesses told police two vehicles, a Toyota Corolla and a pickup truck, sped away on W. Canino. Both came to a stop a short time later after one of the vehicles slammed into a dead end at Interstate 45.
Police said the drivers and passengers started fighting again, this time pulling out knives.
Two men were stabbed and both were sent to the hospital. One of the men later died while the other was listed in stable condition.
According to HPD, a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy was on the freeway and saw the fighting. He pulled over and held four men at gunpoint until backup arrived.
Police did not indicate how many people were arrested, nor did they say if a stabbing suspect was taken into custody.
