Early to mid 2000 suburban with a 5.3 gave us that type mileage on trips with sustained speed. I used to get 17 or so with my '94 burb and either can be had for less than $10k.

Used car prices are insane right now. Under $10k would buy you a 100k+ miles 04-05 F150 supercrew.

OP, Id say if you have $10k to spend, put it towards a new f150. My sis just bought a '12 F150 supercrew xlt for $26k. Im sure a base xl extended cab could be had for less. A regular cab could probably be had for under $20k if you look hard enough.
