  • Contemplating buying a 2013 5.0 convertible

I have that bug again....something about the new mustangs keeps luring me back in. I am at the point of ignoring the practical side of life again for the more thrilling and fun side of the daily commute.

I had given up the thought of another sports car the last few years mostly because I couldn't comfortably sit in a 2010 or newer camaro and still have room for a kiddo behind me.

I'm not a small guy nor a really big guy; yet I was apparently to tall and slightly to wide to sit comfortably in any other chevy sports car other than the vettes. With 2 kids and the wife I want the option to take "my car" on occasion to run errands or go to a pee wee football or baseball game on the weekends, or pickup the kids from daycare after work.

Well 2 things recently made me get the "bug" again.....1 seeing/hearing DavidZ28's 500HP license tagged murdered out Pontiac G8 loping at a stop light Forney last weekend, and then some random Douche Bag getting on his newer SS on the highway on the way to work Friday.

Today on our way back from watching my daughter cheer at the pee wee football game; I decided on a whim to stop by and see if our family of 4 could comfortably fit in a 2013 Mustang GT convertible.....and oddly enough we had plenty of room for my 6'4" frame with my 7 year old daughter behind me and my wife in the passenger seat with my son behind her. This was even with the top UP

So now I am having the dealership locate a few options. However I wanted 12 and 13' model year owners to give me any advice/pointers on the following deciding factors:

    M6/A6
    Gear Ratio
any options that are must haves or a waste of time and money
    Mods

I drive 40 miles each way to work and most of it is highway/traffic driving. It's going to take some negotiating to get where I am comfortable with the increase in car payment but I am sure it will be well worth it and make me alot happier in my daily grind/commute; since the 2012 honda civic just isn't hacking it for me.

            2012 Kona A6 300A Mods as follows:

            1. Weld in muffler delete- first reaction was holy shit, way too loud. After about a week Got used to it. Tires break loose from a dig now. Did tint same day along with a OEM rear blackout panel.
            2. SCT x-cal3 canned 93 tune- Worth every dollar for 1st mod.
            3. JLT CAI- not a noticeable difference, maybe slight at best. Has a cool sounds to it.
            4. Royal Purple HPS Full Sythetic 5w-20- felt a difference in the way the car ran more than the damn intake.
            5. Bmr LCA's with relocation brackets- by far the best mod for the car IMO. Wheel hop was an issue, now eliminated.
            6. Heart Throb 3" cat to axle X-pipe- car sounds more throaty down low, not much difference up to. Did a rear seat delete also.
            7. 3.73's- would be too annoying for most women to comfortably drive as first gear is real short and sometimes the shifts a neck jerking. I personally love them. Avg 20.2 mpg 70% highway with 30% city, heavy foot driving.
            8. BBK cat delete pipes- car sonds wicked sick!
            9. GT500 muflers- car sounds perfect now.
            10. Tuned by Truestreet- badass place to get your shit tuned
            11. OEM 2011 gt500 Brembos front and rear(for pads)- brakes perform much better than stock. They feel stronger after being ridden hard under harsh conditions. Look sick with stock 18" rims. Had to use 1" Eibach spacers for front calipers to clear.
            12. 275/40 Nittos on order
            27k miles

            Car runs 7.93@92.2 on a 1.96 60ft on nt05 245/40's

Definitely check with GVF/Purdy!! I believe they have a few on the lot and I would be willing to bet he'd do everything possible to find what you want. Best buying exp ever...!

I love my 2013. One of the main differences that pushed me to it vs a 2012 is the LED's front & rear. Probably more of a chic thing .
