I agree with Josh about making a drive east to Seaside, Seagrove etc. It's a pretty ritzy area and some of the restaurants can be a little pricey, but it's really chilled out, there are some cool spots and it's MILF heaven (at least it is in the summer). There's a great place to eat between Seaside and Destin - Stinkies. Relatively inexpensive and I thought the food was AWESOME. I don't know if you skateboard, but there's a skate park over in Fort Walton. Its not great, but I had fun until I had a collosal crash. Oh...and no trip to the Florida beaches would be complete without going to one of the many "surf shops" (i.e. Alvin's Island). They are total tourist traps, but usually have the cheapest prices on beach toys for kids and stuff.

We'll probably fit seagrove in to the trip. We were actually going to stay there at a place Rreemo and his family stay each year, but it was a multi level place with lots of steps and we decided not to chance it with a toddler. It's a gorgeous place and we hope to stay there in the future.

The Blue Angle museum is really nice and free. Check there practice dates they put on a free show that is good.
