Of all things, geology is really popping up in my mind and I have most of the extra sciences done and would focus on the geology part. UTA requires calculus which would be a kick in the nuts but so is Research and Theory if I get my masters.

If you could go back and start a new career, what would you do?
My wife is a geologist and would be happy to talk to you about it, Tim. And it is funny that I am trying to become an ICU nurse. lol

I have changed my career twice so far and am headed for my third. Got tired of all the bullshit with just making good money but not doing a job that i find purpose in. I want to be a nurse to actually help people. Do something for my fellow human.
May God give us strength and courage in the time of our darkest hours.

I would have busted my ass to put myself through A&M College station and gotten a Mechanical Engineering degree, instead of settling for something local and getting a Physics Degree

This. The one big void I have is not going military.

And especially this. On one hand, there is a jealousy of people that entered careers that were very stable, but on the other hand, it is just so damn boring. I still know I'll find out what I want to be when I grow up, just haven't yet.

I've been doing accounting for a local bank the past 8 years...sucks! If my mortgage is paid off soon I'd like to go to the new UNT law school opening in Dallas if I could get accepted. It would work out great, since its local and free via the hazzlewood act.

                    Drive trains. Choooooo$$$$ choooooo$$$$$$$$

I actually did this - started the process for a new career in 2007. At 31 I was certainly in the right tail of my MBA class from an age perspective but nothing too significant. Maybe I would have started reaching out to people to research what I really wanted to do a little sooner. Getting an earlier jump on the CFA exams would have been nice too.
My wife is a director at an advertising agency so that made the decision a little easier for us (me not working for 2 years).

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

                      Marine Biologist!

I looked at my wife 5 or six years ago and told her she was to damn smart to be doing what she was doing. She was in the Navy out of high school and mentioned how they would pay for her schooling but she could never afford to go back to school. She told me her dream was always to be a Athletic Trainer. I told her to quit her job and go for it. She finished up her Criminal Justice degree and then applied for the Athletic Trainer program at UTA. Last month she started with a local high school and loves every minute of her job. She went from hating to go in every day to wahooooo its varsity football.

It was a semi tight five years for us but well worth it. Kinda funny though her starting pay is more then mine after ten years in LE and she loves it. I am just happy to know that if something were to happen to me she will not struggle in life to get by.

Oh and 12 years ago my dream was to be a police officer. I worked my fat ass off, got in shape, put in my application, and here I am. It as been a great job and I still enjoy it but after seeing my wife go do something more positive it leaves me wanting more in life.

Not a thing different, except for serving in military before FD. If I could do over I would have enlisted right out of HS.

Add me to the list of people that would join the military right out of highschool. In highschool I wanted to be a geologist, but everyone talked me out of it. Should of never listened to them. Being a lawyer wouldn't be a bad gig either since I love to argue.
