  • Anyone down for a mud run next year?

I've never done anything like one of these mud runs, nor do I ever jog/run, but I'm really interested in doing one of these next year. They have one in Dallas (well, they did in 2012, so I am assuming they will next year). They look pretty fun, and challenging! They do have a much harder one near Austin, the Spartan Race, so I'm opting for the one here.

I might be down, I've been riding my BMX lately and it's fixing to be my ride to work since my job just moved about a mile away from home.

Are there any coming to DFW or Austin in the next few weeks?

There's one on Oct 20 at the Bear Creek Nature Preserve. I'll probably do it. It'll be my first one.

I was getting all excited about getting my truck dirty. Then I realized that you were literally talking about "running", now i'm not so excited.

In Dec. there is a Spartan fricken death run in Austin. it's 8-10 miles long, takes a quick person 3 hours, most around 7 they say. fuuuuck that!

On Facebook I found a training camp for mud runs (same location as the Spartan runs). $99 for 1 day, $240 I think for the weekend, meals included. It's in 2 weeks, Sept. 15-16 I was thinking about trying it out, see what a Spartan run would be like. A friend of mine has done several of these, and he also runs triathlons, so he's the one that really got me interested to try one.

Hmm stephen4785, Oct. gives me some time to get ready for one! I am going to start some running tonight as part of my training/exercise I am doing just for the sake of doing exercise and not being so damn lazy!

I started p90x a few months ago and for the past month Iv been jogging a 7.3 mile horse trail around benbrook lake or a 3 mile run on the lake trail sidewalk. So far Iv lost 36lbs. The 7.3 mile run is all up and down in loose sand/rock. Takes me about an hour with a jog/walk/sprint interval. I ran the 3 mile one this morning and jogged the whole thing to see what my time was. Finished in 26 mintues. I want to get my 3 mile run down to 6 minute miles so 21 mintue total. I usually jog 1 1/2 miles and then sprint for 1 mintue and walk 1 mintue on either trail. Im only competing with myself. My goal is to complete an ironman eventually but I have to start slow and I need to get a bike. My only motivation is to see if I can beat what ever previous time I had. Im also gonna start another dvd workout series called body beast but Im still going to do my morning runs.
