Brought home a truck

I got tired of trying to stuff things in my Edge so I bought a used 99 F250 SD 4x4. Has anyone played with the V10 6.8L? Seems to have a ton of power but has crap for mileage. Is 10mpg normal?

my brother has owned one for 4 years, 2 engines, trying to offload it now. good luck with getting better mileage out of it. pissing in the wind. He's got a 4x2 and he maybe eeks out 12, no load, empty to commute to work.

I paid 4k for her. I gave my 88 C2500 to my mom because she needed a truck for her farm so I was without one for a while. You'd be amazed at how often you need one when you don't have one. I don't plan on driving it more than 20 miles one way to town to get supplies or to pull my tractor to the shop when it needs it.

yeah, that was my brothers idea also, he commutes to Northwest Division 5 days a week from Mesquite, but the mileage and price of fuel is killing him. It's fleet white just like yours. Not a bad price for a farm truck, especially since it's a crew cab. you could beat the crap out of it and still end up getting close to what you paid.

I'm a huge fan of that bodystyle. Nice find Frost.

Thanks. She has a huge ass ranch hand rear bumper but it did run me 300 bucks trying to find out why she was shorting out turn signal relays. Evidently there are two relays under there AND a pair of wires were getting crimped.

Needs newer updated headlights asap lol. i'm sure trying to see the road through those milky/hazed ones is damn near impossible.

Yep, it sounds like you got a good deal, but there did not appear to be anybody tuning for gas mileage when we had ours. It was an '03(?) Excursion, not an F250' but the weight is probably better for yours. Ours would get 13 all day long, and was a great vehicle for ride, hauling folks, etc, but the mileage was just a killer.

Use it for short hauls and when you fill it up, just look past it.

My current truck gets about the same, but pings on super, so it sits a lot.

We have a v10. It's a huge piece of shit. Can't do anything worth a fuck. If we could actually get money for it, I'd dump it.

Stock up on the helicoil and coil on plug deal for when it spits out a spark plug. Other than that my freind's was reliable. His had a lift and bigger tires/wheels so his mileage suffered. He traded his for a motor cycle. Then traded the cycle for a Nissan frontier 4cyl.
