I got the call early this morning that my dad passed around 2am today.
My brother and I were both able to make it up to Boston this last weekend and had a great time with dad. We covered all that needed to be covered, said what needed to be said, told him the memories we value, laughed about the first time I came home drunk and threw up all over the kitchen at age 15. We watched football all day Saturday and said our goodbyes Sunday. I spoke with him Tuesday- he was the most jovial I had ever heard him... I believe he had absolute peace and freedom of release.
I felt it coming quick, but not this fast. Feel deeply it was a blessing and very thankful for the closure we had.
Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers.
    Eric

Eric, the speed of the entire deal sucks, but is also a huge blessing. My grandpa may have died months earlier, but it would have been a helluva lot better than what he experienced and we all went through.

I wanted to share a few pics...
This was taken 5 days before my dad died. My dad was a gardening freak, this was taken in a garden he had designed/installed at the church he attanded.

These are of my family at the reception after the funeral service, same garden.

                  I'm a blessed man.
Thank you again for all the prayers and thoughts, they really do mean alot.

Sorry to hear that brother. In my family life seems to cause cancer. My grandmother had pancreatic cancer and last year my father had esophageal cancer. I flew out to Cali 2 days after we found out my dad was sick and he passed away 3 days later.
There is just no way of making sense of it but I think that it's best if they don't have to suffer too long. Sounds like you have a good attitude and that is very cool that he has left some beautiful gardens for people to enjoy.

I wish the best for you and your family.

We lost my 21 year old nephew, my wife's aunt and her uncle (married to each other) all in under a 2 year period to brain cancer.

You hardly ever hear of someone that young and both a husband and wife contracting a neural blastoma.

I'm sorry, man. It'll be three years in November for mine. Like your dad, he's in a better place.
