    A guy the other night was talking about some stuff they use on used cars that you feed thru the ac duct to neutralize the cogarrette smoke in cars a Lexus dealer can probably tell you what it is

        Concur, although a thorough cleaning is needed. That shit gets everywhere...as mentioned but that's why we don't smoke in the house.

            You will get used to the smell and not notice it. You can mask it with other smells. But it will always be there. Every porus surface has absorbed nicotine. Walls, cabinets, carpet, trim, doors, ..........

            Move on to another house unless you can get this one well below market.

                  Then it wasn't cleaned properly if you can smell it years later. As stated, you can get rid of the smell if you take all the proper steps.

                    It will stink forever if not treated. Back when I was in fire restore, we had an ozone fogger that we put in a burn out for a day or two to brake down the smoke. It can be treated with no long term effects if done properly.

                    Smoke of any type is acidic and will slowly brake down anything it touches. With so many houses on the market it might be a pass, unless it is a hell of a deal.
