I love my gen 2 CTS-V, but as goofygrin said, you should at least check out a well maintained E39 M5. Check out dfwautoclub board for a guy selling goofygrin's old ride. After he bought from goofy, he put on a bunch of Dinan stuff and is now selling it for something else. You could get a good deal on a well-maintained E39 M5.
Otherwise, if you still want the gen 1 V, it's a nice ride too and minimal issues if it's been maintained besides the rear diff as everyone pointed out.Ford
