I still love my cars but I do find myself spending less time and money on them now that I have a family and also have some other hobbies and interests.

I feel that way about The Rat, But all my other cars I got good deals on & I fix them & then sell em & move on to the next, But I know where your coming from. I have spent right at $5500 on The Rat & its still just SITTING!
$2200 on Rebuilt Trans through Gilbert
$760 on SS Yank Converter
$2000 on getting car repainted
$500 to have trans installed & Intake installed
It needs to be tuned. But I know the 10 Bolt out back is the weak link & prolly will blow as soon as I get it back out on the track. A 12 Bolt is gonna set me back $2000.
Some cars can be money pits. I think after owning so many cars I relize that if you get emotionally attached that is when they become money pits. Because you want to add more parts to make it faster. That there comes the next problem. If you dont do your own work. You have to pay a shop. Well lets not get started on all the shop horror stories that we all have heard & you can piss away thousands on labor just to have shit work done & then some part breaks & your back to square one. I think the best way to own a Badass car is to buy it already built & spend the money & get one that is track proven with vids & dyno graphs of the car performing. Because the headace of making a car fast is just that. A Headache!!!!GOD BLESS TEXAS

I just drive the 01 Bullitt to the store and back when there is not even the chance of rain.
Only 30K miles.
It's fun to drive being a 2v to expensive to mod, just wish I still had the Cobra, I drove that thing night and day, till red light runner totaled it. So, I downsized

I gave it up for a while years ago...shortly after I changed careers out of the car business, got much more serious about my job, had a kid, and suddenly prioroties changed. I sold my race car, trailer, a very nice 69' Camaro, and we bought a bigger house and spent time fixing it up and enjoying the family life. There was a point in time when all I owned was a Suburban and a Volvo....but I did keep tons of parts, a couple engines, etc.
That actually lasted about 4 years, then I jumped back in with both feet and haven't looked back since. The good thing is that now-a-days I do consider it a second source of income...part job / part hobby. I buy & sell a lot (cars and parts), and have been doing some work on the side for the past couple years too (but only the type of work I like to do).
Funny thing now....I'm thinking more about the next 5-10 years ramping down my current career and planning on how I'll likely migrate back into some form of the car business as my primary source of income again. It really does come full circle I suppose....70' Chevelle RagTop

I've had my bitchin' Camero since new in 1996. It has gotten to the point where I had a plug wire come off on the engine. In order to properly put it back on the front end needs to be jacked up and the starter removed. It's been parked with the hood up with the plug wire dangling for the last two weeks. Fuck cars.
