Academy has 12 volt batteries that will work fine . Best I remember $20.

For my son's, its a 6v and I put a 18v Ryobi battery in it. It doesn't last long but the sucker will even carry me. Its so fast I had to tether it because instead of steering it wanted to plow forward. Should have seen the look on his face.
