The reason for my comment is that the dumbass compared old people and others that did nothing WRONG to people that were found guilty by a jury of their peers or pleaded guilty. I have a huge problem with that and the fact that he wished prison and death on another members parents, in my eyes he is the biggest POS.
You are aware that it's Guilty until proven innocent aren't you? No matter what it's supposed to be?

Fuck prisoners, they can sweat it out.
Sounds like some of you think we should turn prisons into country clubs. I say make it as unpleasant as possible and maybe PEOPLE WILL OBEY THE LAWS AND NOT COMMIT CRIMES. Gee, what an idea!!

I will not argue on the mistakes of the legal system and your misinterpretation of said system, that isn't what this thread is about. If you want to discuss that start a thread about it and I will gladly debate it with you.

However, I also feel that prison should not be nicer than what the average working American has to endure or a soldier. I have family in lockup that are way more familiar with pop culture than I am. All they have to do is lounge around watching the tube and eat their three hots.
I also think it maybe untrue that all prisons don't have AC. I have not been in a lot, but I've been in some TX prisons for work and they were all AC'ed and new ones were being built with AC. (at least in the general population area)
We can argue about the system (from police, to court to jail), but at the end of the day I personally feel our prisons are way too nice. There should not be gangs in prison (unless a chain gang), there should not be rapes, hierarchies and corruption. The fact that all these exist tell me it is a failure.
Sometimes I wonder if repeat offenders that end up back in jail think "Prison sucks, but is not that bad really."
In the case of being proven innocent after years of incarceration, I agree that really SUCKS. I mean that is very terrible. However, are we supposed to run things with the mentality that everyone in prison is innocent? (That's why I can concur with your thought process. Although, I don't think there is a conspiracy every time that happens either. So I'd hate to see a prosecutor go to jail/be penalized for doing his/her job with the evidence at hand)
Additionally, I feel there is more than one type of prisoner. There are your minor felons (my definitions - nothing technical or by the books)...DUIs (plenty of drunks I know are nice/cool as hell, just don't/can't control when/where and how they consume their alcohol), and other stupid little things (I also realize that they kill people too and generally things can get out of hand). Yes, I think they should be in a different environment than the other kind...
Rapists murderers and so on, should have a very harsh life during their stay in our tax funded accommodations.
I have a hard time feeling sorry for people who are a leech to the taxpayers during their stay and were negative prior to their stay in prison - when we have hard working Americans, military and other folks living less comfortable and doing way more for our country and society.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Older people, vets etc can get out and go to the mall or a library to cool off when it get to be 110 outside. Maybe not all do but the opportunity does exist. A inmate is stuck in a concrete box that is designed to keep him in not promote air flow for the heat.
And are you sure I "misinterpret" the legal system?? You don't know me or any of my experiences with the legal system.

If anything, make prison life exponentially worse and see if it helps with the overpopulation.
I can't believe people want to accomidate prisoners while law abiding citizens starve to death.

Its funny that you over exaggerating i support the death penalty fuck all felons blind fools think that because you give comfort in the slightest to people that have been confined is a negative.
We have double the amount of people in prison than China who has 5 times our population. We're doing shit wrong. Our police system is ass backwards and dated. Our government was built around lack of communication from west to east and is no longer in requirement of such thin representation. If you want to complain about wasted taxes, try talking about USADA, and other bullshit like a congressional hearing against baseball, thats wasted fucking money.
The fact that prison is harsh leads people to be return offenders because by the time they get out they are so warped that it leads to bring brought back. Lack of jobs ( try getting a job as a felon in a bad economy ), lack of skills, its rough. Scaring people straight is a tactic that does not work. Making it somewhat palatable and giving people a chance to progress is a positive. Instead of giving people 10 cents a day to make license plates, why not give them some sort of pension that they can spend when they get out so they can get a place. Do you know what its like to do work all day and have barely enough money to buy some shampoo when you have 0 other bills?
Compassion is not a negative. You act as like people are saying MAKE 70 DEGREEES IN THERE HELL I CANT AFFORD THAT IN MY OWN HOME, simply they are saying it needs to be less than 140 degrees and people are dying.
Then again, most of you idiots have Enron syndrome and cant think further than 3 days out if that.

And from what the guards at one site were telling me the other day(while I was restoring internet service for the MP3 players), they are contemplating allowing the prisoners to have cell phones. (Not be a regular open cell phone, one that had access to only approved numbers.)
It's no vacation, but it's more comfortable than a lot of innocent people have it on the outside.
Maricopa(sp?) County, AZ is an exception to the norm..
