  • Playing Santa

Got to have a great Christmas with my GF's 4 year old. Made cookies and left them out for Santa, left reindeer food in the garage etc...
It was a blast! I had more fun being Santa than anything. So what types of things did you guys do as "Santa" ?

All I've done for the kids is put out the presents and fill the stockings. And drink the milk...and eat the cookies.

One year, I put a boot print in the ashes in the chimney. That really made my daughter "OOo" and "Ahhh".

We had an awesome good time! My grandmother stayed the night, so I slept in the living room (also as part of the plan to keep little wandering eyes out of the goodies!)

Around, 4am Christmas morning, I heard a bedroom door open. Shortly after that, I heard another door and some whispering. Before too long, I heard all 4 voices whispering bets as to whether or not Santa came and left anything ELSE for them after the huge Sunday they had last weekend.

I heard my eldest child brave up and proclaim he'd be the first to investigate. Since I was in the dark in the living room, the only light was coming from the tree and fireplace mantle...no one could see me

I quietly whipped out my new camcorder and opened it up / powered it on and recorded the children sneaking into the living room. First they checked the plate of cookies that was all gone, then they looked for the baggies of reindeer oats we left out, which were also all gone. They slowly snuck over to where I was at, still having not moved one muscle. After all 4 got within inches of my head I sat up and yelled "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!" They all screamed with delight and jumped around. I flipped on a light, delegated the eldest to hand out presents, and I sat back and enjoyed the remainder of the weekend with more enthusiasm than I have had about anything else in a long time.

My uncle played Santa at our family chirstmas. It was a great moment for alot of us, since my grandfather past away and would have normally done it.

There were alot of tears shedding for the situation. 6 new kids came into our family this year, and it was always memorable for us kids to have our grandfather show up as santa. So, it looks as though we are carrying on the tradition.

I had my nieces and my daughter all in the same house. Me and the nieces made two different kinds of cookies for Santa and put everyoneto bed. Had all the presents in my room (what a nightmare.)

Anyways, I was really looking forward to this Christmas because i though Hadley would get into the present thing but she really did not even care about any of it. I ended up opening all her presents and she did not even play with any of her toys. I was pretty dissapointed.
          See you later...

            She's what... under 2 right?

Wait until she's about 4 or 5. That will knock the socks off of any Christmas!!!

16 months. She did not even care about playing with the paper or boxes. She was more happier about the amount of food than the toys.

yea Chloe is about 2 and a half and even she is more excited about bubble wrap then toys.....she does love tearing the paper off and checking out what she got and occasionally will bring it to me to immediately open but for the most part she just wants to open the gift, not so much play with them........

until we got home and got everything un-boxed............then it was on like donkey kong

My son is almost a year and was tearing up his presents. I think he started to get it by the end. We had a present leftover and that night he crawled over and just started opening it.

LMAO! Sensory overload takes a lot out of their ability to properly react. Then at some point in the evening it clicks and they're like "Oh yeah, bad ass! I've got this or that to play with!"

I can definitely see how how her little one was distracted with the smell of Christmas food in the air! Hell any food for that matter if they're hungry LOL!

Awwwe LOL!! She'll get into it eventually.

The one thing I used to get upset with a lot is when my kids didn't react to something I spent a lot of time/effort on, the way I had hoped they'd react.

My mom finally told me "Kim, you can't make the memories you want them to have stick. You have to make everyday special in some way because you can't choose what will stay with them the rest of their lives. Don't put all your effort into one event or holiday.... spread it around and make each day a good one"

That's been golden advice. We just roll with everything and have a blast doing it. I'm not sure what all is sinking in memorise wise, but whatever it is, I can gaurantee laughs were had during the process!
