I completely agree. You can't just go beating down doors to "associated addresses" because of a domestic dispute heard over the phone where the victim never gives her precise location.

If they had, wouldn't everyone be bitching about unlawful entry?

The officers will be cleared because they did nothing wrong. The family also can't win a suite because the police are not legally required to protect any one person but they do try their best to do so.

The city politicians caving and making a payout is something else entirely.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

I am still confused as to how they didn't have the right house when the article states it was confirmed? Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing that it was a confirmed address for the phone number, not the confirmed address for where the call was made from. Have you ever made a phone call from a place other than your residence?

The 911 call taker attempted to obtain the address from the caller, while simultaneously conducting a search of previous calls from the same cell phone number to determine an associated address.

This folks, is why I still recommend a home phone for 911 purposes only. When out and about a cell is fine, but nothing beats a standard POTS line for 911 purposes.
