If you do go with an old Mustang or similar, a Pertronix ignition upgrade (avoid Mallory Unilite at all costs) and at least front disc brakes should be mandatory. After that, improved handling and a dependable carb or even fuel injection will make it an easy to live with car.

Might be because it was second hand. They had a reliability issue as well lately.

What's wrong with unilite? I've been running one for over 8 years.

Any kind of sustained high heat in the engine compartment will cause the plastic in the "rotor" to melt, leaving you stranded. They are TERRIBLE, I don't know why anyone would use one of those. Get a real electronic ignition, or just use points.
