That was always my parenting approach. When Jude was tiny, I let him pick out a toy after a doctor's appointment where he or shots. He picked out a dark skinned cabbage patch boy. It was his favorite toy for years. When his sister was born, he used to pull his little rocking chair next to my rocking chair and "breastfeed" his cabbage patch while I breastfed his sister. I found out later that his dad would do the same thing when his mom was nursing his sister, and his dad turned out perfectly fine.
