learning spanish? rosetta stone?

Jr. starts kindergarten next monday. I have enrolled him to be in a program that 1/2 the day is in english and 1/2 in spanish. the class will be a mix of native english speakers and native spanish speakers. I am quite excited about it. Is rosetta stone a good way for me to learn spanish so i will be able to help him with homework and such? thanks.

in texas he will learn mexican spanish.. in michigan i learned castillian spanish

Just learn how to order food, ask for a beer, ask for a bathroom, and cuss in Spanish and you'll be fine. That's all I've had to use for the last 30 years of my life!

If you can borrow someone's DVD's then I'd say yes...I priced them once and they are definitely proud of them.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about the need to learn spanish. I've made it as far as I have with just knowing English and don't feel the need to conform just because the spanish speaking immigrants don't want to learn OUR native language.

The only reason I considered learning to begin with is so I can communicate better with the day laborers when I would pick some up for remodeling jobs.

In any Spanish class, you will only learn Castilian Spanish. He'll learn Mexican/Spanglish outside the classroom.

The consistent lowest grades in both years of Spanish were fluent in Mexican.
