maybe i missed it, but where does it say he was a motorcycle cop?
the story says an off duty cop was riding his motorcycle, thats a far step away from a motorcycle cop as far as skill and training.
and stopping at 35mph on a clean paved road is very different than stopping on a oil slicked road, old pavement, slight gravel/dirt, lawn clippings, etc. some of you guys are fucking hilarious with your conclusion jumping.

Oh, and not only cannot stop the bike, you purposely lay it down and it goes cartwheeling and hits said kid. Either he was going too fast, or something is up.
what if it was only 1 car length in front of him when the kid entered the street from behind another car? he would then only have time to lock up the brakes, and make the decision to bail. a bike going 35 mph could easily high side and translate all of that forward motion into flipping, cartwheeling, whatever.
again, ya'll are basing your argument on assumptions that may not be the case.

This has less to do with skill, speed, or awareness, and more to do with inertia and physics.

just LOL at all the assumptions.

so lets try and go 35mph on a bike, have a pint size child step out in front of you with no warning..........now i myself can easily see yanking the bike to left or right with a last minute decision,.......you guys act like he had an hour to decide........my guess is he yanked the bars, front wheel dug in and flipped, its pretty easy to see how this could have happened when you're not looking at it with blinders on
