    I agree.

Rider was injured and dad and cousin start kicking the crack out of him. Sorry play stupid games win stupid prizes. However I can see this going a completely different direction if it was a civilian and not a cop that was the rider.

        Unfortunately, but facts are facts.

Yup, plus there is a chance different races are not involved as well.

If I have to chase my kids it's their damned fault and we hold them accountable. Since I know they've been taught and told, so at that point it is their responsibility. 2-3 y/o is when you start teaching responsibility, otherwise you end up with brats that have "not my fault syndrome."

At least that's our theory and it's working well.

The severity of the punishment varies (if any - but there will be if near streets), but kids have to learn responsibility, a little bit of obedience and a whole lot of common sense quickly.

Granted, I think it is a much bigger challenge when kids get in school and see all the brats there. Either way, as of now a little discipline has proven to keep them safer in dangerous situations.

It is of my opinion the cop didn't know what he was doing and a very new rider, or a lot of speed was involved. If what is said in the article is true, it would take a lot of time and distance, even at 35mph to actually jump off the bike and pull it down, which if only going 35mph, would not give it enough inertia to flip, unless it was a moped. Doesn't make sense if the child just came out of nowhere. I'd like to see the investigation, but who knows if that would even be accurate. Regardless there seems to be a lot of perfect parents in this thread, or those who have little to no experience with kids.

I never said I was perfect. But my daughter (also 4), knows not to chase a ball in to the street, or the dog, or not to run in to the street for any reason whatsoever. That is the crap you teach really early on. Like not talking to strangers, holding your hand when in parking lots, etc.

Understood, but there are times when kids won't listen and will break away before it is realized what's going on. It's ridiculous to point fingers when no one knows what happened other than what was written by an 'inth party.

At 35 mph he laid down his bike and flipped it? Okay, that doesn't sound right. I can stop my 1300 pretty damned fast at that speed.

Poor story writing from a non-rider, he did one or the other. We're all expert riders, so of course none of us here would have dropped the bike in any manner, missed the child, and rode away...

I'm far from expert but I've had to come to a very rapid stop because a guy in front of me in a 1 ton pulling a car trailer decided he needed to stop RIGHT FUCKING THEN and I locked up the rear wheel of the bike in Wills Point on that slippery ass brick square. The back tire came around but I still stopped with room to spare. And that's running about 35mph. You're telling me an experienced rider like a cop with academy trained and street tested reflexes can't bring a motorcycle to a stop from 35mph in time to avoid a little girl?

Next you'll tell me they don't randomly shoot pets in the pet's own yard

I don't think we are saying we would have been perfect but 35 mph is a Dahm fast stop on a motorcycle and to lay it down at 35 and it still hit her that thing had to have a lot of inertia behind it.
