That is horrible. I can't imagine the regret the officer will have after hitting the kids and killing the father. Heck of a punishment all on its own.

I honestly don't really see any FTP.

Again, when making it real goes wrong.

You wanna act all hood, then all bets are off.

Of course your family will say it's anyone's fault but yours.

It wasn't anyones fault but the girls father in this case, but I somehow blame you...

For some reason I'm not surprised.

I would like to say I'm sorry for reacting badly to this story. I have my good days and bad days and sometimes, my emotions are easier to trigger. My apologies.

No FTP here, the guy could have been a CHL owner, same result. If the bike rider, cop or not, had been obeying all traffic laws, then all ownus is on the parents.

He should have ran to his unattended daughter first, and tried to help her. From there the anger should have flowed to the "adult" cousin.

Two lanes of traffic each way, mixed residential/commercial, 35 mph speed limit. What is the stopping distance of a bike @ 35, and how long does it take to react and decide to lay the bike down, and how fast does one have to be traveling to decide the bike cannot be stopped in time and that it must be laid down.

Another thing, every ~fact~ we have seen so far has been from the police force's spokesman, they are giving ~their~ version out of what happened. From various other stories, many eye witnesses are saying what happened after the wreck happened differently than the statements the police released, They are saying there was an argument from both sides, they cop was participating in the argument, not giving aid to the child, and that he did NOT identify himself as a cop.

From what I have gathered, cop was hauling ass, kid ran out, he couldn't stop and laid it down, kid gets hit but wasn't greatly injured. Family runs out, confronts the person that just hit their kid why the fuck he was driving recklessly/speeding, argument breaks out, family jumps his ass, he shoots father.

If the cop was hauling ass in the 35 mph zone, he is in the wrong due to recklessness. If not, he is justified.
If the cop actively started the confrontation or antagonized it, he is in the wrong, due to using deadly force to defend yourself after starting an altercation not being a 'stand your ground' defense. If not, he is justified.

I'm going to pull a Matt and say more facts need to emerge, since the only facts being presented are from the police. The non-biased story from non-biased eyewitnesses needs to be reported.

And lastly, nothing will ever happen, even if he was charged and found guilty, except maybe some 'additional training' and a paid vacation on the tax-payers dime...

Hauling ass or not, the PARENTS are responsible for their child being in the street, unsupervised. The courts don't see it that way though, they usually reward them for their negligence.

Streets are no place for children, unless you live in a culdesac, and you still need to be watching your kids.
