Construction workers have found peepholes inside the girls' bathroom at Grand Prairie High School.
Crews discovered the peepholes during the renovation of the H.H. Chambers Auditorium.
Photos taken by construction works show ductwork that looks like it was intentionally ripped back, and peers straight into the bathroom. A bench is directly in front of it.
Another photo shows a hole around the handle of a toilet. The word "look" and an arrow pointing down is on the other side of the wall.
The bathroom has been closed since at least October 2011, the school district said.
The district said peepholes also were discovered at Grand Prairie High School as many as 15 years ago. It is not clear if the peepholes are the same as the ones the construction workers photographed or if they were ever repaired.
Parents getting ready to send their kids back to school said the photos are disturbing.
"It makes me really concerned that her privacy has been violated," said Octavia Brookins, the mother of a GPHS junior.
Luise Hernandez, whose daughter will be a 10th-grader, said she wants to make sure the school immediately fixes the problem.
"The girls should not be going to the locker room or restroom until the holes are patched up," she said.
The district said that repairing the peepholes is within the scope of work for the construction company on the renovation job.
The school district said the renovation would not be finished until October and said the bathroom would be closed to staff and students until then.
