  • So, I bought a Hyundai.

Just bought my wife a Hyundai Tucson. She wanted it, it fits my 6'5" frame with an adult behind me. Never would have thought I would buy a freaking Hyundai.

they are solid cars but unfortunately the resale value is almost non-existent. i have 128k on my kia that i bought in '06 and it's running like a champ, and 99% of those miles were put on dallas streets

Wat. From what I've seen Hyundai is holding solid resale right now.

Definitely. I sold an 03 Spectra with a tick over 100K on it last year for $2500. Damn nice little car for a shit box.

mine is an '06 with 128k and it's not worth much according to kbb, but i am confident that it will go at least a couple more hundred thousand on the long block/manual trans. a friend of mine works at a car dealership and said he has seen 3 of them in the 06-08 range with over 400,000 still running

Hyundai's quality is leaps and bounds above the models from the '90's.

In reference to Sean88GT, we bought our first import back in '87. It was an Acura Integra, and a helluva car. We go to Austin to visit family, and my grandpa, a WWII army vet, comes out to look at it. Pop: "Well, I'll be damned! I can't believe you bought a jap car!". Me: "Well, Pop, at least they're using American steel that we send them". Pop: "I sent them American steel, too, through a 12" gun, but I didn't buy their goddamn cars!". I'm not really certain he ever forgave me for that.

The Genisis coupes are bad ass cars, well the v6 version, and the 4-door sedan are very nice

I may be wrong here, but isn't Hyundai from South Korea? I guess it is the import issue's causing the grandfather's comments in general. (Curious question here... Why does it seem Japan always gets slammed, but Germany's products usually do not?)

Yes, it is an imported vehicle. The OP bought the vehicle from a dealership in the USA, which gives money to the salesman (USA), Pays for the dealership's overhead (USA) and multiple employee's at the dealer (USA). Potential to have vehicle serviced at a dealer in the USA which gives money to techs/ advisors/ etc.

I am just saying in today's world wide economy, the name on the front of the product does not mean it does not effect a lot of people that are effected by the selling of the products.
                            Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

My dad went through this when he bought a 190e. Grandpa didn't understand how he could buy a German car after they held him for 27 months.
