      You'll constantly have issues with the cakedude.com cakedude.net thing, imo.

      Go another direction, but one that's easy to recall and intuitive is definitely the right track.

                              Though funny on here, I don't see "makingcaking" being received all that well by the general populace. It'd be fine as the URL as an inside joke, but not to be used in any advertising or branding, as it'll be seen as having a 5-year old's grasp of the English language.
