Missile destroyer collides with tanker

Charge the tanker company with damage to a US naval vehicle and seize the tanker and it's oil as partial payment. And I didn't think that you'd stop it dead in the water. I was thinking "If I shoot at the guy coming towards me, they will turn."

The 5" guns on the destroyer are powerful and accurate, for sure. But it would take somewhere along the lines of 50 to 75 rounds to any significant damage to ship the size of a tanker. Even a lucky shot directly into the pilot house wouldn't stop it dead in the water.

That being said, the DDG-51 class ships are VERY fast and VERY maneuverable, so how in the name of Admiral Burke did they allow themselves to get broadsided by a big, slow tanker that takes several miles to turn a 180? Be certain of this, they already have a new (acting) Commanding Officer.
