Devils advocate here, are you okay with me infecting 3000 dogs with a fatal disease, and serving it to thousands of New Yorkers with the pre emp tu of earning money for veterans? I am an 8 year old, and it's veterans...
New Yorkers? Any chance we can make it 6000?

So, I remember a time in small towns etc - where if people got sick word spread and 3 months later that place to eat was closed.

From a home foods point of view for the home, same concept. If a local butcher/farmer put out bad food - people quit buying or him and his family did everything they could to make it right.

In the massive DFW area, lets face it, 90% of the places could close and no one would notice. Either way, I understand your point of view but am trying to think how bad could it really be without those federal organizations. I support nuking them since I'm really starting to dislike big government in our lives all the time. Actually, it's a little about what they do, but a shit ton about how much it costs. Just think if a person makes 500 a day, it costs the government 10K a day to do the same job. When of course is what it costs us.

Don't know why I went off babbling there. It would be better if we wanted (specifically) food safety in the area, to private contract it to companies like yours. Yeah, there could and probably would be corruptions - but with private contracts it is much easier to negate. Of course, that's how the mafia worked for awhile too.

I hear ya. However, remember those old members constantly screaming about DOING SOMETHING! Make it RIGHT! DON'T JUST SIT THERE! All that shit? While they did EXACTLY THAT?

They annoyed me so much, I tried to find out why they were not out doing anything. At least as far as FF goes...

          1. What he preaches
          2. What he says he is doing
          3. What he could realistically be doing

...do jive and are realistic. I don't think he'll fly off, since he is too interested in self preservation at this point. (Which is a good thing) If I were a government agency though, I'd not want to give FF a legal way to "do something" though by f'ing up. (i.e. trespassing)

I do think something crazy may come about though. Like when it happened to me, I'm starting to see a lot of light bulbs coming on over people's heads. Of course, these are all people that work 40 or more hours a week...etc. They too are starting to understand what it means for something to be unconstitutional and how things are on a bad path.

Yeah, going postal is for those without a voice and without alternative means of bringing change. My son is also a major leash on me. If something happened to him? Bad stuff.

As for the rest - I do think health inspectors are a necessary evil. Some of the regulations they enforce (such as this one) are absolutely ridiculous, but I still think they are necessary. I'm in and out of kitchens all day, every day. Some of the shit I see is so ridiculously vile, and if someone isn't there to tell them they can't do that, you can bet your ass they would. Shows like Restaurant Impossible and Bar Rescue are a good example of the piss poor conditions in some of these places. You may think its overplayed for the camera, but I'm here to tell you it's fact. And it's everywhere. Tossing spoiled food costs money. Cleaning costs money. Tons of operators aren't going to spend a dime unless someone forces them to. These things cause disgusting and very dangerous conditions. I've become somewhat numb to it, because I'm exposed to it all the time. But there are certain places I won't ever eat. The majority of the public would never eat out again if they rode with me just once.
My sister's father inlaw just retired after being a health inspector for 40 years. He might go out to eat once every 3 months. He put it to me like this. " I've seen every kitchen in every restaurant in this city. After doing that I don't care to see what the dinning rooms look like."

Of course it's cheaper for a private company to do the same job, because there is far less waste. But a private company doesn't have the authority to waltz in to a restaurant, grocery store, food plant, etc. So that doesn't really work in theory.

Things aren't like they were years ago. Most produce/meat doesn't come from anywhere local, unless you are shopping the local section at Central Market, farmer's markets, etc. in fact, most of it is from out of the country.

You beat this drum every day on here. This is never going to change. Suck it up, and get over it. Food borne illnesses can be deadly. I'm sure you'd be singing a different tune if a relative died from it.

A tyrannous government unmoored from the constitution is far more deadly. And yes, I beat the drum daily because it needs to be hammered into people's head. A dead relative does not change the authority of the federal government any more than a dead xyz who died as a result of being shot authorizes the federal government to enact gun laws.

Yes, it will change. People weren't taught the 18 enumerated powers but they are now. Hell, I'm pretty sure most people on here haven't actually read the constitution and didn't know that the powers of the fed was actually listed, one by one.

I've gotten sick repeatedly from bad food being served to me. If government was keeping us safe from it, it should never happen. Why do they fail? They aren't enumerated the power and thus, are trying to rule 50 states (57 if you're Obama) and the counties and cities and towns within each. That's a state and local issue.

Health inspectors are city and county employees. Seems you need to learn some facts.

So you don't think anyone needs to test to ensure the safety of food products that comes in to this country? Of course some things slip through that are carrying bacteria. They can only sample loads, they can't test every single vegetable or there would be nothing left to eat.

USDA is over meats, fish, and poultry that is being imported. Let's say you get sick from store bought fish. Would you want to know where it came from, prior to your grocer? Or are you just going to boycott that store? What happens when you get some fish from another store, that also makes you sick? Boycott that store too? Or boycott fish completely? What happens when you're out of stores and other proteins to eat? Die? Raise your own? The vast majority of the US doesn't have the resources (land) to do that. Have you seen the "tilapia farms" in Vietnam?

I think you are so completely close minded, in such desperate desire of a pipe dream utopian society that has never, and will never exist. Or you just don't know how things work. Other people on this planet want us dead. And that is a perfect way to make it happen, sending tainted product in. It is completely cost prohibitive for the US to solely rely on it's own resources. Far too much population, and far too little farm land. I'm sure that is what you want, but you'd be singing a different tune when your fixed income can't pay for groceries because demand exceeds supply.

I'm saying the federal government has no mandate to do so. 10th amendment states that anything not expressly granted to the federal government, nor prohibited to the states, belongs to the states and the people

Tell me, what is to prevent me from getting sick from imported beef and broccoli and tomatoes right now? Would you like reports of these exact things happening? And wouldn't someone going for a pipedream utopia be someone who believes a central government can be big and competent enough to protect us from all harm?

Perhaps I should have said blissfull. The FDA and USDA are keeping you from getting sick right now. Without them, the sickness rates would be exponentially higher.

I don't need reports. Since you missed it, I said of course some things slip through. If they sampled every vegetable, there would be nothing left to eat. They have to sample. Just like with manufacturing. Very few manufacturers test every product that leaves the plant. They have to randomly pull product from batches, and it's the same with the FDA & USDA. I'm done arguing with you, you don't understand how it works, and apparently never will. Good luck on your quest for the impossible.
