Phone Call Time Etiquette?

last place i worked wanted me to start me at 7 am, coming in and making calls. I had to explain to them that with my west coast territory, calling RV dealerships in Alaska California and Oregon at 5am wont exactly be fucking productive.

Even when my schedule changed to 9am-6pm, people arnt exactly receptive to talk on the phone the moment they step into the office. Usually they want to handle any business first, and are far more receptive 30-1 hour into their day once they had any outstanding business taken care of.

I don't even make it to the news! I conk out in the car pulling into my driveway and tear up a bunch of expensive stuff instead! Ugh.

Etiquette goes out the window when the call is for booty.

I totally understand the schedule thing. I have a few people who know how I am wired and they text/call/etc at odd hours, but that's fine. I'm talking completely random nonsense from someone who has no idea.

For business purposes, I'll only call 8a-8p unless they ask me to call earlier.

Friends, it depends on the situation. I typically wouldn't call a friend outside of 10a-11p unless we have plans.

I usually don't call clients until after 9:30-10am. I feel like a dick ambushing someone the second they get in. Personally I hate taking calls at 8a-9:30a when I'm getting my shit together and taking care of any pressing issues.

I'll call my friends whenever. 12:00a-11:59p. Shit my friend called me after 11pm last night to see if I wanted to go jogging.

I've gotten direct calls from clients at as early as 7:30am, and as late as 7pm, though usually important enough to warrant it. I've got a Microsoft rep that calls me at least 3 times a week at almost exactly 6pm, I'm usually still working though, so no biggie.

I do have a few software reps on the east coast though, that aren't smart enough to calculate timezones, so I've gotten a few 5:30am calls. I had a call before vacation atually, where she was in Britain wrapping up her day, and I was still sipping on coffee.

8:00AM to about 5:30PM

Friend:
9:00AM to 10PM

Good friend:
9:00AM to 11PM.. Text til about 1:00AM on Friday / Saturday.

But I rarely call anybody.

I fucking hate the phone. Only very rarely do I feel the need to call. Otherwise, and primarily, I'll email or text.
