I dont understand the lackadaisical attitude toward some police work. The PD should put forth the utmost effort to ensure the safety of the people they serve. Every situation an armed leo interjects himself into is a potentially lethal one. Its not sales or assembly line work. The purpose of the job is to ensure the well being of law abiding citizens. That isnt even the purpose of a job such as a pharmacist, yet I would be willing to bet any mistake in that field would not be treated as lightly.

This is one of the reasons I believe to ensure a reasonable level of respect from anyone, a man needs a fence and gate on his property or at the minimum, an outside door.

You guys are acting like the Marshall controlled how the warrant was issued. The paperwork is filed with the court clerk, signed by a judge and the warrant is issued. It gets forwarded to the law enforcement and assigned to which ever officer to carry out the order.

Search warrants are only good for that specific location or object like vehicles. Search warrants do not give authority to arrest a person. If evidence is found during that search that's incriminating the officer can arrest the person.

An arrest warrant I'm assuming is what they had for your girl. They are provided with the last known address and work place. It gives them the authority to enter your residence, by force if necessary, and arrest the person.

So yes, they did have the right to block the door open and could have knocked you out of the way to carry out that warrant. They could have been even bigger assholes and arrested her anyways and let the jail/court figure out the identity mix up.

I know it sucks being put in that position but blame the paper shufflers for this fuck up and not the officer. You think he enjoys preparing himself to encounter who knows what at 5:45am just find out that he was given a fucked up warrant and info.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

How many calls for service does just one department run in a 24 hours period? 100's to 1000's depending on size. Add that together for ALL the dept in the area and u gots alot of 0's! And then we hear about MAYBE one a month... oh ma gah!! Humans... We are bound to screw up, but its very rare. But all it takes is one "bad" experience or one bad news article and "cops need to be held to higher standard for there constant eff ups!"
Yeah man, you're right. 1:800,000 is about the right ratio. You've gotta be fucking kidding me. Cops fuck up all of the time and the vast majority of it gets swept under the rug.

I'd have told the cops to have a nice morning, and told the wife to make a phone call at her leisure. Officer safety or not, I've seen cops stroll into a house with an unlocked door. Thanks for playing the "officer safety" card.

And for what it's worth: A mistake on my part at my job can directly cause the deaths of 1,2, pr more. You can bet your ass that I'd be held personally liable. I'd like to see the same for our fine law enforcement officers. It would help keep their head in the game.

Like anyone gives a fuck about officer safety. I sure as hell don't. Do your fucking job by the rules you god damned crybabies.

If anyone knocks on my door at 5:45 am there will be some .308 Winchester on the other side waiting to give them a new asshole.

Well, don't forget that my housing and daycare alone is over 1.5x the median household income of the U.S. You can make a lot in San Francisco, but it costs a lot to do it.
