  • City Marshall FTP

The other morning, City Marshalls come knocking on my apt door at 5:45 am. I answer with "can I help you?" and all I get is "We need to speak to Ashley..."(Ashley being my wifes name). I reply with "what's this about?" They reply, again, with "we need to talk to Ashley..." I asked them two more times, and got the same crap, so I asked for a last name, and they beat around the bush until I told them I wanted to make sure they had the right person. They told me, and it was right, and I finally got them to tell me why they were there - city warrants. So, I go wake up the wife, SHE invites them in, they ask her if her date of birth is xx/xx/xxxx, and she says no, its yy/yy/yyyy, and explains that she went to college with someone with the same name, and that their transcripts had been switched at one point in time. So the city marshalls apologize and leave.

    Here's where I go FTP...

This fucker, while I'm trying to gather info as to why they are there, has his hand on the outside doorknob trying his damnedest to push his way inside my apt, trying to look around, cuz I only opened it enough to see who it was. I had my hand on the inside doorknob and my foot at the bottom of the door keeping him from doing so. Fucker wouldn't even let me shut the door when I went to wake my wife up. And when my wife told them they had the wrong person, they didn't even ask for her ID.

I spoke to a county judge the next day, and he said that the city marshall shouldn't have even had his hand on the door, much less trying to push it open.

Fuckin TPD wanna be municipal court desk jockeys with a badge....

    Rant/

Marshall's are sworn law enforcement. I understand why he held the door. Let's say hypothetically that your wife was who held the warrants. What if the Marshall didn't hold the door, and you shut it closed? Then what? Second scenario - how do the Marshall's know whether or not your summoning someone with a firearm to ambush them?

Long story short, the guys were doing their job. Quitcher bitchin'.

He still acted like he was trying to gain entrance into my apt w/o a proper search warrant. That, and them not asking my wife for ID to verify who she is are what irks me the most.

LoL...upholding the law by serving warrants so the city can collect its money? They can get bent as far as I am concerned.

Hmm. So then it's ok not to pay warrants?

The need for search warrants is so overrated. I get so tired of hearing that when people have no idea WTF they are talking about. Not that this is that situation, but those words just pissed me off.

An arrest warrant doesn't require a search warrant.

So if there is an arrest warrant cops can kick in any door to any address that person is suspected of being at?

                        I don't think so.

Lol, can someone please explain to me how this went from "has his hand on the outside doorknob trying his damnedest to push his way inside my apt" to kicking the door in? If I am a cop trying to serve a warrant I am going to want the door open completely so I can cover myself. Pushing on the door and kicking it in to search the entire apartment are two totally different things. Do you think if they really wanted entry into this apt the only thing keeping it from it was asphaltjunkie holding it? Funny thing is it sounds like they got the info they needed and left without much problem at all. Sounds to me like you had it very easy compared to most.

Cops are good for writing accident reports...otherwise, I couldnt care less. With that said, there are some good men behind the badges...ie, Luis, Matt, Don, etc...I'm just not a fan of govt supported extortion. Dont pay your $236.76 for driving 60 in a 55? Go to jail!!

LE should be out solving real crimes and arresting real criminals...not collecting taxes for the city/state.
