Exactly. It was a long story with more pushing and a few statements but that's what it boiled down to

no shit. Great way to get met with a fire arm in your face. If I answer the door at 5:45am, I will have a gun ready to rock, police or not. Nice thing is our neighborhood gates don't open till 7:00am.

Sometimes I wonder if the cops try to escalate a situation in this manner. I get that they are trying to catch the "perp" at home, but the likelyhood of having the wrong address is pretty high, and the likelyhood of an "innocent" answering the door with a gun is even higher. Why escalate the situation??? Why not wait outside until the sun is up and maybe greet them at their vehicle outside the house???? Much less chance for an incident or a MISTAKE by putting the homeowner on "alert".

I like the idea of a Police Department being there to protect me and my family from the shitheads of the world, but it seems like 9 times out of 10, situations like this are handled in the worst manner. You would think they would have learned their lessons by now and work smarter, not more dangerous.

2 reasons. One, ready the news much? Two, it would depend on the person, but I can tell you if they show up at my house, they have the wrong address as there is no reason for them to be there. I shouldn't have to bend to LEO's if I'm in the right just to prove I'm innocent.

I have a somewhat common first and last name. When I lived in Plano, I got mistaken for others more than 10 times in 10 years. In larger cities it happens a lot more than you know. Then take into account the spread of identity theft and people just lying about their name, it's common. The LEO's should hold themselves to a higher standard because it's their job and they should have MUCH better access to records than the average DFWM member....which is seems they don't.

Now, take into account the rise in violent crime, knocking on someone's door at 5:45am is just fucking stupid. Do they really expect no confrontation? Seriously? Why make your job harder or more dangerous? Personally, I think some LEO's are looking for a rush and give the profession a bad rap overall.

did anyone else read the rest of the first post where the outside sources had merged the two peoples identities? obviously its not the first time its happened and it probably wont be the last.

the problem with most of you is that you have seen on tv/news where officers had the wrong address and something bad happened. being that ive worked with warrants squads before its a small percentage of wrong addresses.

obviously when they said they were looking for whoever the op knew there was a chance they were looking for the correct person.

youd be surprised at the lack of access to records that the average police officer has. its no fault to the officer but rather the city/county they work for. i used to be able to get on facebook and city cads to search records on people to see if they were lying abouts names address etc and all that has now been blocked. i can only use a lot of records that wont pull up pictures.

It was done at 545 to throw the suspect off. I've served warrants at odd hours to catch people off guard. C'mon guys, if police only worked bankers hours all of the bad guys would never be caught.

What all do "City Warrants" entail? Sounds like traffic tickets.

What is a city marshall? And someone knocks on my door at 5:45 am, I'm not opening the front door, I'll have a 12ga sitting on the other side of it while I discuss what their issue is.

They can be anything, not just traffic tickets.

Oh ya? You think the police don't have the code to get in or can't get it?
